RV Space Savers has lost Our Beloved Boss

In Loving Memory of Our Precious CoCo (the boss).

2005-2017

Most of you have met CoCo through the years as she was always in the booth watching over everything that was going on.  Since she was a service dog she went everywhere with me, was so loving and took such good care of me.  As you can imagine we are devastated that she is no longer with us and she was one in a million.  We miss her terribly.

Has RV Space Savers been lost or wandering?

But yes maybe we have been both!  Since I last sent out a newsletter, a lot has happened in our world.  As I had last told you we were in the process of doing some remodeling in our motor home to get ready to head south on October 1st.  As always seems to happen when you take on  a project, things take longer than expected so we were right up against it to get things wrapped up before hitting the road.

I’ve tried to download some photos but my internet service isn’t strong enough to download them. We are loving it and looking forward to getting the flooring replaced and the cabinets painted.  If you would like to see the photos, I will be creating an Album which I will put on my Facebook page in the next few days.  https://www.facebook.com/rvspacesavers.33.  I only share my posts with friends so if we are not already friends, you will need to send me a friend request to see them.

We did leave the Seattle area on October 1st and stopped in the Salt Lake City area to visit family for a few days which was so fun.  We then headed to southern Utah where we met friends Marilu and John and Patti and Warren. We spent a day in Capital Reef National Park.  It is the one park in the Grand Circle that we had not seen and oh my was it gorgeous.  The six of us traveled together, which was so fun, to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and met a Facebook friend and her husband and had great visits with them. We split up and then it was off to the Six-State FMCA Rally in Texarkana, AR for us.  It was fun to see old friends and meet many new ones at the rally. While we were there, we met many members of the Crusin’ Cajuns who were hosting a rally in Rayne, LA and asked us to exhibit at their upcoming rally so we changed our plans and headed to Louisiana . Remember Nick Russell says Rver’s plans are made in Jello!  What fun we had there and what a great group of people who welcomed us with open arms. I gave two seminars at each rally and they were well attended.    They want us to come back in April for their Spring Rally.  We then went on to Alabama where we visited with more Facebook friends and then headed to Florida’s Forgotten Coast for a few days.  We are now at Thousand Trails Orlando with friends Joyce and Jim, Marilu and John are close by and  we will all be spending Christmas together.  So as you can see, life has been busy for us which is why I have been so lax in getting out newsletters.

New Tip from a Seminar attendee: When I gave the tip about using a white toothpaste and clean cloth to remove the dull film from headlight lens, a gentleman  said that Off Insect Repellent also works.  Just spray on and shine with a clean cloth.  I haven’t tried it but certainly worth a try.

Safety Tip: Someone sent me an article on how lemon slices in restaurants are full of bacteria and there is no oversight on them by the health department!  Well since I am a lemon lover and use six wedges in a tall glass of water, I have started buying several (or a bag if I find them) when they are inexpensive.  I wash them well  and then using the Lemon/Lime Slicer, I slice them and freeze in freezer bags.  When we’re going out to eat, I take a small ziplock bag with my own six wedges to put in my water.  https://rvspacesavers.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=176.  Only $10.00 and mighty cheap insurance if the article is true!

Great tip for your Christmas tree:  Years ago we attended the big Tampa RV  show and I bought a Wheeltopper Steering Wheel Table.  It was only $20.00 and I use it whenever we are stopped for any length of time and put a variety of things on it but at Christmas time I use it for our tree.  It looks very pretty there and is still out of the way.   http://www.wheeltopper.com/shop/wheeltopper

Another Great Holiday Tip:  Collect key chains from places you visit and use them as ornaments for your tree.  Most of them are flat and take up very little space the rest of the year.  It’s fun to reminisce about places you have been as you hang them on the tree.

Great Places to Visit:  We have been to some beautiful places on this trip and have seen some amazing things.  One of our favorites so far on this trip is Florida’s Forgotten Coast.   It is called that because most people stay on Interstate 10 until they get down to the more populated cities in the state.  We left I-10 and headed south on Hwy 71 and into the Apalachicola National Forest to Hwy 98 which hugs the coast.  WOW was it a gorgeous trip.  So much to see and do, several Florida State Parks in the area and lots of RV parks and the Wakulla Springs the largest and deepest springs in the world.  We wished we had planned more time in the area.  It is not only gorgeous but very quiet and peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of the more populated areas of the state.

We love hearing from you and hopefully I will get back to sending out a newsletter every week or two.  It would be great to hear from you if you appreciate and want me to continue to write this as it takes quite a bit of time and if you don’t find it worthwhile then it makes no sense to continue doing it.  You can always contact us at rvspacesavers@gmail.com.

I found this quote which is so true and we have met so many great people and look forward to meeting many more.  What a blessed journey it has been.   Until next time.

Thankfully we arrived at our summer home safely and are settled for a few weeks.  We will be heading to Moses Lake at the end of May to attend the Good Sam Sambroee on June 1-5 which we have missed for the past couple of years and are looking forward to seeing many of those friends again.  That is certainly one of the many benefits of living in an RV…just pull the slides in and go!  Then we’re back home for about 3 weeks when we will head back down I-5 to Albany, Oregon for the NW FMCA Rally June 23-26.  While I always organize to trave,l when we arrive home for the summer, I really dig deep to make sure we’re not packing anything we never use and donate it to a local second hand store.  I am always in the mindset to save space so do everything I can to make that happen.  I also go through all the paperwork that has accumulated over the months we have been gone and store them until the 10 years are up for the IRS.  Even though I scan and save so many things to thumb drives, I am always amazed by how much paper we seem to carry.  And running our little business, of course all that paperwork has to be saved.  Thankfully our son has a big attic!  In the past I have tried to use those vacuum bags to store winter or summer clothing but have never found any that worked well.  What experience do you have with them and what brand really does work?  I sure would appreciate your thoughts and ideas.  Send comments to rvspacesavers@gmail.com.

We were please to see how much water there was in Shasta Lake and how much snow there was on the mountain from when we were through there last August.  I was unable to get a good photo of Mt. Shasta as it was shrouded in clouds but the mountain was white and snow level was down low once again.  I did get a couple of photos of the lake.  Here is a photo taken last August and again this May.

TIP:  We have talked about keeping our electronics and information in cyberspace safe the past couple of newsletters  and I thought this tip was great to continue talking about our devices and as you all know about my favorite subject…de-cluttering and organization! 🙂  Declutter Your Digital Life…http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/tips-for-decluttering-your-digital-life.html?utm_source=DailyRSSNewsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=Headline&utm_campaign=RSSNewsletter

Great Places To Visit:  While there are so many great places to visit in this country Donna, one of our readers reminded me of this site which has lots of fun things to see and do as you travel America’s highways and byways.  Thanks Donna.  Roadside America has lots of attractions and oddities to look for.  http://www.roadsideamerica.com/.

Another Great Place to Visit:  Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens in Woodland, WA.  http://www.lilacgardens.com/ We see the sign as we travel the I-5 corridor and either never have time to stop or it’s not ‘lilac’ time.  This spring we did have time so spent a couple of hours touring the beautiful grounds.  Sadly the lilacs were early so were gone for the most part but the grounds are beautiful. Here are a couple still in bloom.

And oh I had forgotten how heavenly they smelled!

A Great Find:  While we were in Yuma at the four rallies, we met several new vendors and one we were especially taken with was Chuck Warner and his wife Dorothy.  Chuck is retired and does “Scratch Art.”  We had him do a portrait of CoCo and absolutely love it.  It comes double matted and ready to frame and he does lots of pets as well as other things.  He so captured CoCo’s look and expression.  Chuck doesn’t have a website but is considering setting one up so you can see much of his beautiful art work.

If you are interested in having him do a portrait of your pet you can contact him at watersystems@yahoo.com.  Please put “CoCo’s Mom” in the subject line so he knows it’s not spam.
